This originally Gothic castle has undergone a number of reconstructions over the years. It underwent great changes in the Renaissance period, then in the Baroque period. Its current appearance was given to the chateau by a reconstruction, which took place during the reign of Joseph I. Adam of Schwarzenberg. At present, the chateau complex is divided into five courtyards and consists of several larger units – Lower and Upper Castle, Cloak Bridge, Castle Baroque Theatre, Summer and Winter Riding School and Castle Garden, which is divided into French and English parts.
